Region IV Regionals ended this past weekend in Albuquerque and Rio Rapids teams performed admirably all week in the most competitive youth soccer event of the calendar year.
The 2001 Boys team were the star performers of the week reaching the semi final stage only to narrowly lose 4-3 to the San Jose Earthquakes out of Cal North. The U19 Girls also performed very well to take 3rd place in their age group. Four other teams successfully qualified from bracket play to the quarter final stage but all came up short at that round (U17G Zia, U18G 96, U17B 97 and U18B Reds). First time qualifiers for regionals 99B and 99G all competed very strongly and recorded victories in bracket play but missed out on the knock out stages.
