NM Rapids Soccer Club is proud to offer a comprehensive college search support program for our member student-athletes and their families. Our results speak for themselves and are unmatched by any other soccer organization in New Mexico:
- 74 alumni (44 women and 30 men) are playing with college soccer programs during the Fall of 2024,
- They are the most recent additions to the 678 Club alumni who have played college soccer
The Club achieves these results by providing a broad range of programs and resources that educate our member families and coaches, maximizing player opportunities to catch the attention of and be seen by college coaches, and supplying our players with the knowledge of what it takes to become a successful collegiate player and access to the high level training to reach this goal.
Our extensive college search programs and resources include:
College Search Seminar for Players/Parents
NM Rapids annually offers a comprehensive college athletic planning seminar for players and parents of high school age member families that provides information on how to successfully navigate the college search process as a student-athlete. This presentation forms the foundation of the Club’s college search program and provides information regarding:
- Factors to consider when choosing a college
- How to get noticed by college coaches
- Parents’ and student-athletes’ roles in the search process
- Developing a letter of introduction and player profile/resume
- Understanding soccer scholarships and other forms of financial aid
- NCAA/NAIA/NJCAA recruiting rules and restrictions
Maximizing College Exposure
To maximize college opportunities for our member student-athletes, NM Rapids has undertaken a multi-year effort to collect data on college coach attendance at showcases and tournaments and to cultivate relationships with an extensive network of college coaches. These contacts and proprietary data have significantly grown exposure for our players:
- Over 400 college coaches attended NM Rapids SC games to scout players in 2023-24
College Search Resources
The club has done the leg work to collect valuable college search information and to develop a variety of templates that can serve as tools in communicating information with college coaches. These include:
- A list of valuable online websites and resources,
- Advice and information regarding college visits and camps including an ID camp calendar,
- Guidelines and advice for developing video for college coaches,
- College recruiting rules and regulations summary,
- Player profile template,
- Sample college coach contact emails/letters.
