We are pleased to announce Morgen McBrayer as the new U11 – U15 Boys Director at Rio Rapids SC. Morgen is a former Rio player, playing for Rio Grande as a child. Morgen brings with him a wealth of professional experience, after serving for 20 years in various capacities with the Albuquerque Police Department. His soccer resume is just as impressive. Morgen has coached here in Albuquerque since 2011, where he started with AUFC as a coach. He moved to Pateadores NM in May 2018 to become an Age Group Director for them. After 5 years with the Pats, he joined Rio Rapids SC where he has coached in various age groups for the club. Morgen is also the current Head Boys Varsity coach at Bosque High School (since 2021).

Mogen McBrayer:
“First and foremost, I am honored to be part of the Rio Rapids SC family. After retiring from the Albuquerque Police Department, I knew I wanted to make coaching my second career because of the kids and the passion I have for the sport itself. I believe coaches should encourage their players to try new things, get out of their comfort zone and be free to make mistakes so they may learn and grow, not just as footballers, but in everyday life. My coaching philosophy is simple: to promote development and joy in an environment free from ridicule and shame. “We must challenge our children to think for themselves. Let them struggle a bit in a supportive environment until they amaze us. Let’s give them the opportunity to be remarkable.” – Todd Beane (TOVO).

Rio Rapids Director of Coaching Chris Hurst States:
“We are very excited to add Morgen to our full time staff as the U11-U15 Boys Director. Morgen has made no secret of his desire to make soccer his profession, and we are thrilled to be able to help him make this dream a reality. Morgen’s professionalism and experience will prove to be invaluable for our players, parents and coaches”.
