Rio Rapids SC is proud to announce that 84 of its alumni (54 women and 30 men) were a part of 56 college soccer programs throughout the country during the Fall of 2022.
Twenty-two of these players were a part of teams that earned trips to the national tournament. Darya Mosallaei (03G) was the starting goalkeeper for the Ferris State University (MI) team that reached the NCAA Division 2 Final Four. Three players were a part of teams that advanced to the Sweet Sixteen of the national tournament: Max Eisenfeld (00/01B Atletico) at St. Olaf College (MN) in NCAA Division 3, Lorelei Logan (02G) at the University of Memphis (TN) in NCAA Division 1 and Sarah Vierling (01G) at Amherst College (MA) in NCAA Division 3. Four players also helped their teams reach the 3rd round of the national tournament: Joshua Baros (02B) at the University of Tulsa (OK) in NCAA Division 1, Courtney Lohmeier (01G) at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University (AZ) in the NAIA and twin sisters Ainsley and Sierra Martin (04/03G) at Westmont College (CA) in the NAIA.
Players on teams advancing to the 2nd round of the national tournament were: Emily Aguilar (04/03 GA) and Jael Larson (02G) at the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs in NCAA Division 2, Devon Baird (ECNL 04/03B) and Alex Dixon (ECNL 04/03B) at Southern Methodist University (TX) in Division 1, Jayson Baca (00/01B) at the University of Washington in NCAA Division 1, Alexa Dugan (04G Burgundy) at West Texas A&M University in NCAA Division 2, Jake Lent-Koop (00/01B) at Messiah College (PA) in NCAA Division 3, Luca Seazzu (99/00B) at Calvin College (MI) in NCAA Division 3, Aidan Semelsberger (ECNL 03B) at the University of Denver in NCAA Division 1 as well as Tristan Semelsberger (99/00B) and Michael Sprauer (98/99B) at Colorado School of Mines in NCAA Division 2. Other players whose teams earned bids to the NCAA tournament include: Milo Garvanian (99/00B) at the University of North Carolina in NCAA Division 1, Hailey Koch (04/03G) at St. Mary’s University (TX) in NCAA Division 2, and Deja Sandoval (00/01G) at the University of Texas-San Antonio in NCAA Division 1.
Hannah Pacheco (01G) was the starting goalkeeper for the DeSales College (PA) team that made the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division 3 final. Twenty-five players helped their teams win conference championships.
Many of these players received individual honors for their outstanding play. Two players earned national honors: Jake Lent-Koop (00/01B) of Messiah College (PA) – United Soccer Coaches 1st Team All-American & 1st Team All-Region, All-MAC Commonwealth Conference 1st Team & Defensive Player of the Year and Tristan Semelsberger (99/00B) of Colorado School of Mines – D2CCA All-America 2nd Team & South Central Region Player of the Year, United Soccer Coaches All-South Central Region 1st Team, All-RMAC 1st Team. Two additional players received regional recognition: Milo Garvanian (99/00B) at the University of North Carolina – United Soccer Coaches All-South Region 3rd Team, All-Atlantic Coast Conference 2nd Team and Michael Sprauer (98/99B) at Colorado School of Mines – United Soccer Coaches All-South Central Region 1st Team, D2CCA All-South Central Region 1st Team, All-RMAC 1st Team.
Eight additional players were selected to their all-conference teams: Karlee Maes (99/00G) at the University of New Mexico named All-Mountain West Conference 1st Team, Mercedes Mummert (01G) at Hardin-Simmons University (TX) named All-American Southwest Conference 1st Team, Mikayla Chase (01G) at Midland University (NE) named All-Great Plains Athletic Conference 2nd Team, Nate Patton (ECNL 04/03B) at the University of Texas-Dallas named All-American Southwest Conference 2nd Team, Sophia Roberts (00/01G) at the University of New Mexico named to the All-Mountain West Conference Newcomer Team, Madyson Barela (00/01G) at Fort Lewis College (CO) named All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Honorable Mention, Hannah Gallegos (00/01G) at the University of Denver named All-Summit League Honorable Mention and Hannah Pacheco (01G) at DeSales University (PA) All-MAC Freedom Conference Honorable Mention.
Tristan Semelsberger (99/00B) led both the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference and the Colorado School of Mines in scoring. Other players leading their teams in scoring were: Madyson Barela (00/01G) at Fort Lewis College (CO), Milo Garvanian (99/00B) at the University of North Carolina, and Felicia Moseley (00/01G) at Cleary University (MI).
Twelve players were recognized for their outstanding achievements both in the classroom and on the field. Two players earned national honors: Jake Lent-Koop (00/01B) of Messiah College (PA) – CSC Academic All-America 1st Team & All District and Michael Sprauer (98/99B) at Colorado School of Mines – CSC Academic All-America 1st Team & All-District, Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Academic Player of the Year & All-Academic 1st Team. Four other players were recognized as CSC Academic All-District: MacKenna Havenor (99/00G) and Sophia Roberts (00/01G) at the University of New Mexico, Courtney Lohmeier (01G) at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University (AZ) and Hannah Pacheco (01G) at DeSales University (PA). Sarah Vierling (01G) at Amherst College (MA) was named to the NESCAC Fall All-Academic Team. The following were all named to the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference All-Academic Honor Roll: Madyson Barela (00/01G) at Fort Lewis College (CO), Niamiah Cervantes (00/01G Burgundy) at Adams State University (CO), Jensen Leivo (00/01G) at Colorado Christian University, Jaci Linn (99/00G) at Colorado Mesa University and Tristen Semelsberger (99/00B) at Colorado School of Mines.
