Rio Rapids SC is proud to announce that 89 of its alumni (48 women and 41 men) were a part of 56 college soccer programs throughout the country during the Fall of 2019. 

Twelve of these players were a part of teams that earned trips to the national tournament.  Luca Seazzu (99/00B) was a part of the Calvin College (MI) team that finished as NCAA Division 3 semifinalist. Jayson Baca (00/01B) played for the University of Washington team that advanced to the NCAA Division 1 quarterfinals.  Jacob Eanes (00/01B), Tristan Semelsberger (99/00B) and Michael Sprauer (98B) were a part of the Colorado School of Mines team that advanced to the NCAA Division 2 3rd round.  Jake Lent-Koop (00/01B) and Lourdes Martinez (00/01G) were a part of the Messiah College (PA) and Trinity University (TX) teams that advanced to the NCAA Division 3 3rd round.

Players helping their teams advance to the 2nd round of the national tournament were:  Rebekah Carr (98/99G) at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University (AZ) in the NAIA and Sarah Vierling (01G) at Amherst College (MA) in NCAA Division 3.  Other players whose teams earned bids to the NCAA tournament include:  Mason Davis (01B) at Colorado College in NCAA Division 3, Dominique Giannini (98/99G) at St. Edward’s University in NCAA Division 2 and Steven Lee (00/01B) at Oglethorpe University (GA) in NCAA Division 3. 

Nathan Otero (00/01B) was a starter for the Westminster College (PA) team that earned a spot in the ECAC Division 3 championships. Twelve players helped their teams win conference championships.

Many of these players received individual honors for their outstanding play.  Three players earned regional recognition:  Alexa Genas (98G) of Campbell University (NC) – United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division 1 All-Southeast Region 1st Team & North Carolina All-State 1st Team, Cheyenne Orozco (98/99G) of West Texas A&M University –D2CCA NCAA Division 2 All-South Central Region 2nd Team and Alex Touche (98/99’s) of the University of Pennsylvania – United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division 1 All-Northeast Region 3rd Team.

Eight players were selected to their all-conference teams with women named in the Big South, Conference USA, Mountain West, RMAC, Southwestern and Summit League and men named in the Ivy League and RMAC.  Alexa Genas was also named the Big South Attacking Player of the Year as she led the conference and her team in scoring.  Alex Touche was recognized as the Ivy League Defender of the Year.  Hannah Gallegos (00/01G) and Deja Sandoval(00/01G) were named to the All-Freshman teams in the Summit League and Conference USA, respectively.  Jordyn Maes (01G) of Adams State University (CO) and Kailey Pena (00/01G) of Grambling State University (LA) also led their teams in scoring.  Six players were named to All-Academic Teams by the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (4), American Rivers Conference and the Big Ten.
